TITLE CHALLENGE BEGINS AT HOME FOR TURNER

Darren Turner begins his world title challenge this weekend when Round One of the FIA World Endurance Championship takes place at Silverstone.
Although the title hunt starts at home for Turner it will take the Aston Martin Racing driver all over the world from Europe to South America, the USA, China and Japan, before finishing up in Bahrain just a few weeks before Christmas.

Darren's comment: " I've had new gloves made for this season. Super fast!"

After a busy pre-season which has seen the Aston Martin Racing team test extensively in the USA, Darren is keenly aware that the cool Spring in the UK could throw up a few challenges for the teams at Silverstone.

"The most interesting aspect for us at Silverstone will be the low temperatures and how we go about making the tyres work," explained Darren.
"Last year we were lucky that race day was slightly warmer than the previous days as this certainly helped us."
"It's great to start the championship at Silverstone as it's right on Aston Martin Racing's doorstep and considering the amount of work the guys are having to do to get four cars ready for this weekend it's handy that they're not having to travel too far from home."

The Aston Martin Vantage GTE debuted in 2012 and made steady progress throughout the FIA WEC season before Darren and his team-mate Stefan Mucke took a brilliant victory in Shanghai.
The challenge now is to keep the momentum going and stay on the winning streak as the 2013 season swings into action.
"The work the team has done over the winter has produced very encouraging results, especially in terms of performance and driveability," said Darren.
"As ever when you go into the new season you don't know what the performance level of the competition will be and there is no doubt Ferrari and Porsche haven't stood still over the winter.
The encouraging thing is that we haven't either and if we can start 2013 as we ended 2012 then we're already on for a great championship."

"The car ran incredibly reliably throughout our time in the States" he continued.
"The real season starts now at Silverstone."

The WEC cars will take to the track at Silverstone for the first free practice session this Friday at 12:25hrs.
GT qualifying takes place on Saturday at 12:10hrs and the six-hour FIA World Endurance Championship race gets underway at 12:00hrs on Sunday.
The race will be broadcast live on Motors TV.
