Just as the coming of spring in Japan was two weeks late this year, it was still quite cold in Europe. The temperature in Nürburgring was only 3 degrees Celsius in the morning.
Because of the changeable weather with watery sky on the day before the race, the tires did not get warmed up enough and all the teams had a difficult time.
One of the Aston Martin's dual entries in SP8 Class was new four-door Rapide, which was released in May simultaneously all over the world. Aston Martin's CEO, Dr Ulrich Bez participated as one of the drivers. The other was V12 Vantage, the winner of last year. The race started at 15.00 CET on 15 May 2010, which was a brilliantly sunny day.

Until the last six hours of the race, V12 Vantage and Rapide remained in 1st and 3rd place in class, but suddenly V12 Vantage stopped in the middle of the circuit due to fuel pump issues.
Head of Motorsport, David King rushed to the Aston Martin DBS by driving the Cygnet and took the wheel of the DBS to get the V12 Vantage towed back to the pit. It was the moment when the DBS became the most expensive tow car in the world.

The 24-hour Nürburgring race came to end at 15.00 CET on 16 May 2010 with the victory of Lexus LFA under the prodding of Toyota Mortor's CEO, Mr. Akio Toyoda. Rapid and V12 Vantage took 2nd and 3rd place in class respectively.

Anyway, the silhouette of Rapide was so beautiful on the circuit.

The ACO( Automobile Club de L'Ouest ) is a traditional automobile club, which has been continuing its development for nearly 90 years since they started organizing the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1923. They organized the American Le Mans Series in 1999, the European Le Mans Series in 2004, then at last the first Asian Le Mans Series was held in 2009. The first event took place on the Okayama circuit between October 30 and November 1.
The Okayama circuit is totally different from a high-speed circuit like the Sarthe circuit in France. The course requires lots of techniques with hard corners and the setting of the cars were tough for the teams and drivers.
The race was split up into two 3-hour events. The 2009 Le Mans Series Champion, the 007 car of Aston Martin also took part in this first race in Japan. The audience was fascinated by its beautiful body and the sensual exhaust sound.

In the first race, the 007 car of Aston Martin was leading the race until 10 minutes remained when the team stopped for repairs following the official rule. We got all disappointed with the result of the 4th place in the end. I wonder if it was a trial for the champion since this rule was not applied across the board.
In the second race, the pit was in a solemn and serene atmosphere from the morning and the team started the race calmly but with fighting spirit to win. The 007 speeded up as the race went and the Aston Martin Racing claimed a sensational victory. After the driver Stefan Mücke took the chequered flag, he kissed the 007 with his gratitude and the season of the year came to an end for Aston Martin Racing.

On October 6, 2009, more than 60 children in Ono-town were a little nervous while waiting for Prof. Luc Montagnier at the WFARP Japan Office.
However, they were very much excited by the fact that the famous Nobel Laureate would come to our small town. Then at last Prof. Montagnier came into the hall with a smile on his face, together with Mr. Hayashi, who is a representative of Osato Research Institute, and Mr. Sugiyama, who was a town mayor.

Ms. Yoko Tokue started the celebration with her beautiful piano performance, which made the atmosphere happy and relaxed. After the town mayor, Mr. Shigeru Sugiyama extended his congratulation, Prof. Montagnier made a little speech to everybody there: "Currently the main treatment for HIV carrier is to reduce the virus in their bodies to the minimum amount using HAART (Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy) for 3 to 9 months. However, this treatment won't remove the virus totally. It may not be detected by the current testing technique, but it is still hiding somewhere in the body. What we have to do in order to make it possible is to find out the nature of this hiding virus and keep it minimum using therapeutic vaccines or enhancing immune systems by antioxidants. In his words, we felt his passion, belief and efforts in his researches over a number of years, not giving up his dream whatever happens.

In the Q & A Session with children, Prof. Montagnier answered each question gently with smile. They made questions such as; "What do we have to be careful about to prevent HIV infection?" "What kind of study are you doing now to conquer AIDS? etc.

On October 7, the World Foundation Aids Research and Prevention President Prof. Luc Montagnier held a press conference at the Japan National Press Club in Tokyo. With Mr. Kazuo Miyata as the chairman, prof. Montagnier talked passionately about his concerns on the current situation of Aids Epidemic as well as the therapeutic research saying that:
"Thanks to the HAART (Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy) HIV carriers are now able to lead their loves with better conditions. However, there are still various concerns. The drugs are expensive and have serious side-effects. The patients have to take them every single day. This is not a solution for AIDS"
"After reducing the virus till undetected amount by using HAART at early stage, if we use therapeutic vaccine or antioxidants to reinforce the immune system of the patients, we would be able to keep the virus level as low as possible even the virus is still hiding in the body."

A interview with　Prof. Luc Montagnier, who is a member of the ORI scientific advisory board, was broadcast by French news program " TF1 TV Journal".
In this interview, he explains that it is important to improve the body's immune system using immunostimulants of natural origin such as FPP in order to prevent influenza.
Regarding the influenza prevention, we received a message from Prof. Luc Montagnier.

The new virulent influenza is affecting people in Japan, too.
With low humidity, the virus works more actively.
This is an advice from Prof. Luc Montagnier as to how to be wise in our daily lives in order to prevent infection during the autum and winter flu season.

HOW TO PREVENT INFLUENZA

The advices of Prof. Luc Montagnier

Some little means...

Each of us is concerned - rightly - by the highly contagious transmission of the new strain of influenza virus H1 N1.

Before an efficient vaccine will be available and besides the usual hygiene precautions, I would like to share with you my own experience and that of my colleagues to prevent this infection.

Our mucus membranes of mouth, pharynx, throat, nose, are fragile, especially in a cold season. They are partly protected from invadors - viruses and bacteria - by the mucus produced and also by that of saliva. It is therefore necessary to salivate, especially during long lasting flights, in order to keep the mucus membranes wet. But in addition, I noticed myself that some products of natural origin were preserving me from respiratory infections.

The first one is a fermented preparation of Papaya fruit extract, FPP, known in Europe under the name of Immun' Âge.

A number of laboratory studies have shown that FPP is a complex mixture of natural carbohydrates and other compounds resulting of long term yeast fermentation; it has 3 main actions. It is:

→anti-inflammatory
→immunostimulatory, particularly at the level of mucus membranes
→inducer of anti-oxydative enzymes

FPP is distributed as a powder in sachet of 3 gr. or 4.5 gr. The powder is placed under the tongue for several minutes, in order to allow dissolution by saliva, which will activate some of its active compounds and also permit perlingual absorption. It can then be swallowed, eventually with a sip of water.

Its use is very simple. If one is potentially exposed to the virus, or if mild symptoms appear (swelling of mucus membranes, tickling of throat, nose), take immediately one sachet, a second one 6 hours later, and a third one before going to bed, all between meals.
Symptoms will disappear very rapidly. However, it is advised to continue the same regimen at least for one week.
There is no toxic effect and FPP can also be taken by diabetic persons.

The second product is a natural antioxidative compound, made of three amino-acids, glutathion. It has also detoxifying activity and is made by our organism. However, in case of infection or inflammation, oxidative stress consumes its reduced form and the internal production does not cope with the huge excess of oxidative molecules.

Therefore, it is necessary to use an orally absorbable form of active glutathione. This form is now available (Ultrathione, Thyogen orders by internet). This product can be used jointly with FPP, reinforcing the action of the latter.

It is also logical to use it in the case of fatigue, often occurring in seasonal flu. Some viral strains (H5 N1, not H1 N1 so far), do possess a virulence gene attacking mitochondria, therefore adding to a still stronger oxidative stress in the pulmonary tissues. It is thus also very appropriate to use it as complementary treatment of severe infections.

This is not the end of the "little means", still not very well know in the medical world. More to come!

But do not forget: to prevent is always better than to cure... and good luck!

On July 29, 2009, we upgraded our analytical equipment at the Osato Research Institute and installed a new and improved HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatographer).
The ORI engages primarily in the basic research of FPP.
The HPLC is essential for conducting componential analysis of FPP. Thanks to the new and improved HPLC model, operation procedures and data handling have become much easier. As a result, we plan to expand the scope of our research.
We are now focusing on glucose, a principal component of FPP, and obtaining increasingly interesting results. We look forward to posting and reporting these results soon.
We are working to achieve research which leads to the study of FPP in clinical trials.
Racing for Le Mans 24 Hours has come this year again. It has been fifty years since Aston Martin's victory of Le Mans in 1959 (the current LMP1 class), and Aston Martin entered its cars numbered 007, 008 and 009 with V12 petrol engines in LMP1 class. That would be worthy of a British sports car maker to take such a challenge memorably.

In the LMP1 class, Aston Martin had to fight against nine monster cars, including three R15s and two R10s of Audi, both of which were equipped with diesel turbo engines, and four 908 of Peugeot trying to revenge the defeat of last year by all means.

These nine diesel turbo engine cars were obviously superior to speed and quietness, when compared with petrol engine cars, such as 5 seconds faster per one rap of 13.6 km at the Sarthe Circuit. The Le Mans regulations, however, allowed petrol cars to have a little bigger gasoline tank (90 litters for petrol cars and 81 litters for diesel cars).
Despite clear handicaps, existing before the race, three cars of Aston Martin showed a good fight with the 007 car finishing an excellent fourth overall - the quickest of all the petrol cars.
This year, Peugeot realized its long-awaited dream of taking first and second places in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Incidentally, the winning driver of Peugeot was David Brabham - the winning driver of Aston Martin GT1 driver in 2007 and 2008 before - has patronized 'Immun' Âge' for a long time.

During the industrial revolution started in England, the main power sources of wind and water were shifted to fossil fuels for steam engines. The global, simultaneous economic downturn undergoing these days, coupled with rapid advancement of science and technology; wind and water have been looked at as the source of energy again ironically, and as a result, car engine seems to be shifting from new typed diesel to electric motor.
It occurs to me that Aston martin will be fighting against electric cars at Le Mans in ten years from now.

Yuki HAYASHI

In Europe, spring is the season for the glorious Chelsea Flower show in London, as well as for 'the Quiet Duel' of car racers in the woods of the mid-western German town, Nürburg. From 21st to 24th of May, the 37th "Nürburgring 24 Hour Race" was held at a driving track 25.378 km around, demanding corners and up-down. Because of its toughness, getting a good rap time at this course is the focus of world attention to be important for leading automakers to test and showcase the performance of their flagship cars.

Aston Martin entered two factory cars on the market; they were slightly modified for competition, a new model standing for 'V12 Vantage', together with 'N24V8 Vantage', winning the championship last year. The CEO, Dr Ulrich Bez took part in driving both cars, which was supposed to be served as a test driving of the stock cars, and the V12 Vantage saw a stunning victory in the SP8 class without any major problem during the 24 hours.

On the other hand, the N24V8 Vantage had a rear left tire burst in the center of the track around 5:00 a.m. Amid the rising tension in the pit, a Japanese driver, Shin-ichi Katsura got it back to the pit on his level judgment without giving much damage to the car, which led to the remarkable success of a second place in the SP10 class.
br/>
The race started at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, 22nd of May, and ended at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, 23rd of May. From the beginning to the end of the race, all the drivers and pit crews, as well as the cars, showed professionalism calmly as a team, each committed to their missions assigned individually. The 24 hour experience in the German track impressed me with excellence of 'humans and cars combined' against this digital society making anything look easy to obtain results.　I felt proud of "Immun'Age", which has been loved by such professionals of Aston Martin.
